Once President Lincoln issued The Emancipation Proclamation I was a free man. I didn’t have to hide anymore. So, I married my lovely wife Nelly, got some land, and we had a bunch of kids. But I soon found out I wasn’t going to make it as a farmer. My skills were better served elsewhere. Not to mention the lawlessness of the territory was out of control. Sometimes the local Sheriff's and Marshal’s would come and get me to do a little tracking for them. And that paid well. But no matter where you went there was always someone waiting to rob you, shoot you, and kill you over nothing. I decided that won't no place I wanted to raise my family. So, when the Marshall asked me to be one of his deputies and help clean up the territory I accepted it. We were told to bring in the most desperate, bloodthirsty desperados, dead or alive. And that’s what I did. But no matter who you were I’d always give you a chance to surrender. Most of the time, if I got the drop on them, most criminals would surrender peacefully. But there were some outlaws who would just as soon shoot you in the back, then say good morning to you. Them was the kind that took a different type of persuading.
